Maanda is a skilled strategist, innovator, and leadership coach (Integral Coach® UCT GSB and certified Gallup Strength Coach), as well as a published author who is passionate about advancing leadership excellence. He is the founding director at SuperLead Advisory (a strategy, operations, and leadership consultancy). He is also an adjunct faculty at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). Until recently, he was the Head of Dialdirect Insurance, where he successfully led a business turnaround and was also awarded the South African product innovation of the year in the financial services category. He has held management and executive roles at MTN SA, Discovery Health and 1Life Insurance. Maanda’s experience includes working as a strategy management consultant at Deloitte Consulting and at McKinsey & Company. Before his career as a management consultant, he worked as a chemical engineer at Mintek.
Maanda recently completed the Executive Development Program at the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is at an advanced stage of his PhD studies at the University of Johannesburg. A skilled facilitator, Maanda recently moderated at the President’s South Africa Investment Conference. He is a SuperLead podcast host, Cliff Central “Leadership Books Unpacked” podcast host, and an experienced summit moderator. He is an accredited facilitator and licensed distributor of Insights Discovery, a psychometric tool based on Carl Jungian psychology. In 2019, he was named one of the Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans and the Junior Chamber International’s Top 10 Young Persons in South Africa.
Outside of his very busy schedule and academic nature, Maanda likes to live a little and still makes time to enjoy the simpler things in life. He likes to be active, participating in long distance cycling, running, swimming and occasionally enjoys a competitive tennis match with his wife. You can also catch him unwinding with a round of golf at his local golf course.
